We’re Open Saturday and Sunday, too

May 23, 2009

Just so you know, we’ll be having dealers set up their tables on Sunday, as well.
The flea market is open from 7:00AM to 3:30PM both Saturday and Sunday.

Loading-in for Saturday’s Opening

May 22, 2009

The floor had been just covered with rows of empty tables but now there’s a big set-up in the back room and dealers have been unloading at the loading dock and bringing in lots of items.

It’s looking much better with rows laid out and the merchandise being displayed.

Please come and join us this weekend and check out all the stuff that’s just arrived!

Doors open at 7:00 AM Saturday and Sunday, May 23 and 24
The fleamarket closes at 3:30 in the afternoon.

Hope to see you there!

Early Morning

May 19, 2009

The temperature was in the 30s near Boston this morning, and a couple degrees colder in Dudley, but I don’t think any frost. If you had frost, feel free to make a comment.

Getting up early will take some getting used to, and it’s 6:15 AM now, whereas the load-in time for the fleamarket is 5:00 AM.

We’ll be up earlier getting coffee brewing, etc.
Are we morning people? I hope so!

Busy today and a cold night, tonight

May 19, 2009

We keep on cleaning and fixing and cleaning and installing.
A bunch of good people stopped by today looking for table space.
And we stopped by the Dudley Municipal Complex to take care of some business and met more great people.

Oh…

We open this Memorial Day Weekend!

We are open May 23 & 24 (I had to check my 2009 Stevens Linen Mill calendar) and we hope to see the mill floor active with lots of activity again.

The flea market starts at 7:00 AM and ends at 3:30 PM.
If you want to rent a selling space (and we have tables to rent at $5 each per day), please check our About page for contact information.

Oh… it’s going to be cold tonight; just above freezing according to the forecast, so bundle up if you are out early this morning. There was a rumour this afternoon of frost tonight, but we’ll see about that! Sprouting vegetables int he garden may be safe, but it’s still cold for the end of May and people were gathering wood for their stoves.

We’re not worried about the flax plant seedlings as they seem to be doing okay so far. Our fingers are crossed, as the “gardener” is somewhat of a novice. Pulling weeds is the main job requirement.

It’s going to be really lovely out this week… maybe you could take a walk outside.

We’re opening in May!

Holy Smokes!

We had to have custom-built dots made for the I’s and the number of T’s which needed crossing was a bit overwhelming as the place is so large inside.

But the good news is that we will be opening this month, most likely on Memorial Day weekend (May 23rd and 24th) and we will be open on May 30th and May 31st.

In the meantime, enjoy the great weather and why not come visit Dudley, Mass. and the next-door town of Webster.
There are orioles in the trees next to the mill along the French River.

The Brimfield Antique Show is underway this week… if you can’t make it, just wait a couple weeks and we’ll be happy to see you at the Stevens Mill!

Crossing One T After the Other

February 12, 2009

The electrical is getting completed, bathrooms refitted, exit signage and emergency lighting replaced and upgraded, and the permitting and approval process is proceeding. Marching forward to opening day.

Break it down:

Char-gogg-a-gogg

Man-chaug-a-gogg

Chau-bun-a-gung-a-maug

The last 6-syllable portion is very close to “Chobonokonomun” which has been reported as what the earlier Nipmuc or Nipnet residents called the area near Lake Webster.
